Thinking of having lip blush? Here's what you need to know!

Here we have everything you need to know about the lip blushing (semi-permanent makeup) procedure! From who can have it, to the healing process. Read more for all of your questions answered!

Who is suitable for lip blushing?

Lip blushing is a very versatile treatment. This means we can customise the perfect lips for every face type and lip type! As well as giving a natural boost of colour to the lips, it can also help to cover loss of pigment and can be a game changer for people who don't have a naturally defined border and struggle to line their lips.

What does the procedure involve?

The initial treatment is 2-2.5 hours. Colour choice and your personal lip goals are discussed before the procedure begins. We then begin by applying a topical numbing agent for maximum comfort. Once numb, we grid out the key points of the lip, and exactly where they should be. We then stencil the outline of your lips, creating the perfect border. Once we are both happy with the design and colour, the fun part begins! The outline is created using an ultra-fine needle. Once this has been created, the colour is shaded over the whole lip. We can make this a light blush, or a fuller lipstick look - whatever your preference!

The healing process

Immediately following the procedure, lips will feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch. They may appear swollen and bright in color.

For 4 hours after treatment, apply light pressure on lips with a clean paper towel, to remove any lymph.

Day 1-3

Apply healing balm on lips several times a day. Keep lips moist at all times. Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw. After every meal gently rinse and clean lips with water and pat dry, then re-apply ointment.

DAY 4-7

Between these days, lips will begin and end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 30%-60%. Do not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue keeping your lips moist!

WEEK 2

Lips are done peeling, color is light. Lips will continue to heal, up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface, it is important to continue keeping lips moist to get the best color at the end of the healing phase.

WEEK 6-8

Your lips are healed and you're feeling unstoppable!!! Just add some lip gloss and go! In most cases it requires two treatments to complete the lip transformation. Top ups usually around 8 weeks after, the healing process is similar, so keep hydrating after this point until fully healed! After top up, expect the colour to not need topping up from 2-4 years!! WOW!
