Why you should be multi-masking

Posted by Sue on April 10, 2017 in Beauty Trends.

What exactly is multi-masking?

An intelligent way to customise your skincare regime – i.e. using more than one mask at a time on different areas of the face. This allows you to focus on different skin concerns in one go. Got blemishes on your chin? Apply a charcoal based mask in that area. Got dry cheeks? Use a hydrating mask / formula in that particular area.

Why should you do it?

Different areas of the face require different treatment you don’t want to apply a charcoal mask all over your face when the only area which needs it is just your chin – this could otherwise dry out parts of your face which are begging for moisture. The forehead, nose and chin have the highest concentration of oil glands while the outer corners of the eyes have the least, and are the thinnest areas of skin on the body.

So who would benefit from multi-masking?

People with combination skin (that’s 70% of British women) would benefit from using multiple masks. For instance the T-zone can be oily, whereas the cheeks and eyes can be dry. So using an acne-fighting mask can make these areas become drier and possibly sensitive.

How do I start?

First of all you need to get to know your skins needs and what treatments would be best, so take note of what needs attention and why. For example a week of lack of sleep may result in puffy and dull looking eyes, both of which are in need of being looked after.
